iblazr Hopes To Bring A Better Flash Unit To Your Smartphone

While our smartphones do a pretty good job these days at taking photos, for the most part smartphone camera flashes do leave a lot to be desired as they usually render photos pretty harsh. This is possibly due to the type of flash used, and the fact that they cannot be adjusted to bounce off ceilings which would cast the subject in a softer light. Well if you thought your iPhone could do with a better flash unit, Kickstarter project for a device called iblazr might be one worth checking out.

As you can see in the image above, the iblazr will provide the iPhone with LED flash, four “hi-end American CREE LEDs” to be exact, and will play nicely with non-iPhone devices as well as it plugs into the 3.5mm audio jack. The device will come with its own 200mAh battery which means that when you use it with your phone, it will draw from its own power source instead of your phone which according to its creators, will be good for up to about 1,000 flashes, or 40 minutes with it turned on at full power.

The device will also come with an accompanying app that will allow for greater control over the unit. With 32 days to go, the project is just shy of under $3,000 to make it a reality, so if you’d like to get your hands on the iblazr, hit up its Kickstarter page for the details.
