However if you’d like something a little bigger, say a tablet, Hawaiian Airlines has recently announced that they will start offering their passengers the Apple iPad mini tablet to entertain themselves with during their flights. The airline company is looking to equip 14 of their 767-300 planes by the 1st of September, with a grand total of 1,400 tablets being distributed amongst the planes.
The flights eligible for the iPad mini includes hub routes from Honolulu to the American mainland, and other locations in the South Pacific region. The iPad mini will supplement the airline’s in-flight entertainment system and will be provided free of charge to Business class passengers. Those flying in economy will have to shell out $17 for use of the tablet in the flight. According to Blaine Miyasato, the company’s VP of product development, “With the help of Bluebox Avionics, we’re building on our acclaimed inflight service by incorporating the latest in popular consumer tech products to enhance our in-flight entertainment options.”
