Soon after Google announced Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the folks at CyanogenMod made their own little announcement. They have begun work on CM 10.2 ROMs. David Van Tonder took to Google+ to reveal a feature that would be included in CM 10.2 ROMs. Called “Global Blacklist,” it will allow users to block text messages and calls, even both if they want to. The feature will be configurable through Messaging, Phone and Settings. It will also be available to third party apps through a “content provider API.”
The Holo compliant interface means that the feature will blend in with the rest of the Android 4.3 environment. Users will be able to type or select numbers to block from their address book. Numbers can also be added to the blacklist from the in-call screen, the call history screen, the quick reply popup as well as the Conversation screen in the Messaging app. Users will be able to enforce the type of blocking, whether they just want to block texts from a particular number or calls. Notifications will be displayed with an unblock action, users will be able to allow a number to be whitelisted so that calls or messaging, or both, can reach the user. No word as yet when we can expect CM 10.2 ROMs to be released.
