BlackBerry Reportedly Cutting Production By 10%
It certainly sounds like things aren’t looking up for BlackBerry at the moment. According to an analyst, Peter Misek, word on the street has it that BlackBerry could be cutting 10% of its production of BlackBerry 10 devices due to slow sales, along with the fact that the BlackBerry Q5 is reportedly not selling as well as they had initially hoped it would. According to Misek, he estimates that BlackBerry will cut production from 5.5 million to 5 million overall, with BlackBerry 10 handsets dropping from 2.5 million to 2 million.
There has been talks about BlackBerry possibly going private as one of the ways the company can continue working at solving their issues without having to be accountable to the public and their shareholders. Some believe that this move could ultimately drive away developers which is the last thing BlackBerry wants, especially since having crucial apps on its BlackBerry 10 platform is one of the ways the company can entice users to hop aboard the BlackBerry bandwagon. In any case it certainly does not look good for BlackBerry at the moment, but hopefully things will pick up again in the future.
