Xbox Live Rewards Will Transition From Microsoft Points On September 1

Microsoft announced it would be giving its Points system the axe prior to the Xbox One’s release to prepare both current-gen and next-gen Xbox owners for a world where you can purchase anything on the Xbox Live Marketplace for what it should cost in your country’s currency. Microsoft is currently working on having everything that used its Points system converted to the new system, and its Xbox Live Rewards program looks to be following suit.

Microsoft’s Xbox Live Rewards program is completely doing away with its previous Microsoft Points rewards starting on August 1. This doesn’t mean the service will be going as well as Microsoft is saying they will unveil a new form of its rewards program on September 1. This means starting on August 1, Xbox owners will not be able to earn Microsoft Points through the Xbox Live Rewards program.

We’re not sure what form its Xbox Live Rewards program will relaunch in, but we’d like to think Microsoft will continue having its program reward Xbox Live users will real-world funds, instead of Microsoft Points. Considering Microsoft will convert your Microsoft Points to real-world currency once the transition is made, we have a feeling that’s what will end up happening to its Xbox Live Rewards program as well.
