Teen Jailed Over Comments Gets Beaten Up While Incarcerated

The other day we reported that a teen was facing a possible jail time of up to 8 years for a comment he made during a game of League of Legends. The comment was supposedly made as a joke and could be taken as sarcasm when Justin Carter responded to a comment about him being “insane”. He mentioned he was so “messed up in the head” that he would shoot up a school of kids and eat their beating hearts. The comment was then followed up by “lol” and “jk”. Of course given recent shooting events, comments like these can be quite sensitive which was why Carter ended up in jail to begin with, and now it looks like jail has not been treating him well.

According to reports, it seems that Carter was beaten up in jail and according to Carter’s father, “Without getting into the really nasty details, he’s had concussions, black eyes, moved four times from base for his own protection […] He’s been put in solitary confinement, nude, for days on end because he’s depressed. All of this is extremely traumatic to this kid. This is a horrible experience.” We reckon this is getting a bit out of hand and while we agree that jokes like that should not be made lightly, don’t you think that this is getting a bit out of hand and taken to the extreme?

As it stands Carter has been charged with making a terroristic threat and his bail has been set at a staggering $500,000, which might explain why his family has not managed to bail him out and the reason why Carter is still in jail while the case moves through the court process. There is a petition going on at the moment set up by Carter’s mom asking for the government to let her son go with a little over 50,000 signatures at this time of posting.
