Some Gamers Want Microsoft’s Old Xbox One Policies Back
When Microsoft announced its Xbox One and its policies regarding always-on connections and its used games DRM position, safe to say many gamers were not too pleased about it. After overwhelming negative feedback, Microsoft has since backtracked on the policy, stating that they are listening to their customers. For many gamers we’re sure this is good news, although there are some who feel that this is a step backwards, since essentially this would make the Xbox One an upgraded version of the Xbox 360, and nothing more. To that extent it seems that some gamers out there decided that perhaps Microsoft should bring those policies back and have since launched a petition to bring those policies back.
According to the petition, “This was to be the future of entertainment. A new wave of gaming where you could buy games digitally, then trade, share or sell those digital licenses. Essentially, it was Steam for Xbox. But consumers were uninformed, and railed against it, and it was taken away because Sony took advantage of consumers uncertainty. We want this back. It can’t be all or nothing, there must be a compromise.” At this time of posting, there are over 17,000 signatures which is well beyond the 7,200 originally planned. We guess this goes to show you just can’t please everyone! What do you guys think? Will you be signing this petition?
