Samsung’s First Tizen Smartphone Reportedly Delayed Until October
Back in March it was reported that the first Samsung Tizen smartphone could be released in Q3 2013. Well the bad news is that if you were looking forward to getting your hands on a Tizen device in say, August, you might be disappointed. According to a report from Korean news website, iNews24, the launch has reportedly been delayed by about two months, pushing the potential release of Samsung’s first Tizen device to sometime in October. It does not seem like the delay has anything to do with hardware, but more about its ecosystem and apparently this is due to issues that Samsung is experiencing in developing its own Tizen app store.
Tizen by Samsung is expected to provide an alternative mobile operating system for those who might be seeking something different that current platforms such as iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and Blackberry 10 might not be able to provide. If Samsung launches their phone, Tizen will be going up against the likes of newcomers such as Mozilla’s Firefox OS, and the Sailfish OS, both of which are pretty new and have yet to gain much traction.
