Microsoft Shares Some Early Xbox One Designs
Last week we shared some of the names that the original Xbox could have been known by, and now according to Xbox creative director (via Polygon), Carl Ledbetter, we now know what were some of the potential designs that the Xbox One could have taken on before its debut. As you can see in the image above, those are some of the sample designs that the Xbox team worked on before settling on their final choice. Naturally not all of these designs were considered, but they were all sketched up nonetheless in a bid to see what worked and what didn’t.
According to Ledbetter, “We wanted to make it simple and elegant, and we wanted it to be crafted and tailored, so it’s all about quality […] Using those principles, we started to design.” About 30 people in the Xbox team took part in this activity and they basically sketched and dreamt up designs of what Microsoft’s future Xbox console could look like. The designs were then sent to an in-house design shop who then turned those sketches into prototypes which you can see above. So what do you guys think? Do you like the current Xbox One design, or do you think Microsoft should have spent a bit more time designing the console?
