It was being rumored last week Windows head Julie Larson-Green may become the new boss of Microsoft’s Xbox division, which would most likely be announced during the company’s restructuring of its senior management this week. Microsoft made its official announcements yesterday, and it looks like the rumors turned out to be true as Larson-Green is now in charge of Xbox hardware.
Larson-Green will now lead the Devices and Studios Engineering Group, which means she’ll be in charge of all hardware development and supply chain from the “smallest to the largest devices.” In addition to her new role, she’ll also be taking responsibility for studio experiences for not only game studios, but music, video and other forms of entertainment.
Along with Larson-Green’s shift to leading Microsoft’s Device and Studios Engineering Group, Skype head Tony Bates will now be in charge of developer relations. Former Windows Phone head Terry Myerson will also be making an important shift as he’ll be in charge of the Operating System Unit, which includes the Xbox One’s functions.
