iPhone 5S Could Face Supply Constraints Due To Poor Fingerprint Sensor Yields

One of the features of the upcoming iPhone 5S would be a fingerprint scanner and NFC, or at least that’s what the rumors are claiming. However it seems that if fingerprint scanning technology is something you’d be interested in seeing on your iPhone, you might discover that you will have a hard time trying to locate iPhone 5S units because according to a report from DigiTimes, they are claiming that due to yield issues, it has impacted the number of fingerprint scanners that can be produced, along with how there are some problems with the LCD driver chips as well which could ultimately affect the number of units produced in the first run.

Due to these problems, production of said components have been pushed to the end of July, and because of this, it could affect the number of units available at the rumored September launch. According to one of DigiTimes’ sources, if Apple were to make a September launch with their estimated number of units, full production of the components should have begun in June or early July at the latest. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but we guess we will just have to wait and see when the phone launches if there will be any supply constraints at the start.
