iOS 7 “Mogul” Feature Allows Slow Motion Video Recording At 120FPS

Hidden references have been found in the code of iOS 7 beta 3, the latest beta firmware release of Apple’s upcoming mobile platform update, which reveal that the company is working on a new camera feature for iPhone called “Mogul” mode. Essentially, this feature will allow users to record slow motion video at 120FPS (frames-per-second). Right now it is not known at what resolution this slow motion video is captured in. According to reports, the feature can not be enabled on iPhone 5 because its hardware does not support it, leading many to believe perhaps its going to be a feature exclusive to the next generation iPhone.

The “S” moniker touting iPhones that Apple releases don’t come with major design changes, they do come with unique software features. Take the iPhone 3GS for example, it came with face detection and advanced video recording. iPhone 5S is said to be the next Apple smartphone, possibly with a 13 megapixel camera module from Sony. An exclusive camera feature for it does make sense, but there’s obviously no way of being certain that the feature will definitely see the light of day. Furthermore it would also bring the next iPhone at par with the Galaxy S4 which already allows users to capture slow motion video at 120FPS.
