ifttt

If you love the idea of automation, then you may or may not have heard of the website, If This Then That (IFTTT). For those unfamiliar, IFTTT is basically a web tool in which it allows users to execute actions automatically based on a predefined set of conditions. Not all services across the web are supported, but popular “channels” such as Instagram, Dropbox, and Facebook are among the supported. Essentially you could look upon these actions as macros, but IFTTT calls them “recipes”, and the good news is that if you were hoping to take some automation with you on the go, IFTTT has launched an iPhone app, bringing some of its automation features onto your mobile device.

The three new channels supported by IFTTT for the iPhone include Photos, Reminders, and Contacts, so for example you could have IFTTT make a new Calendar event when you enter a new contact into your phone, or upload a photo into Dropbox once you have taken it and etc. We expect that there will be some limitations but mostly it will be up to you on how creative you are when cooking up recipes. The app is free for download so if you’d like to check it out, hit up the iTunes App Store for the download! The app is only available for the iPhone at the moment and no word on when it will make its way onto Android.
