HP announced its Split x2 Windows 8 hybrid computer back in May, saying it would be available in August. We’ve got good news and bad news if you’ve been looking to pick up the HP Split x2 soon after it was announced. The good news is you can now purchase the Split x2 for only $750. The bad news is… well, we lied. There really is no bad news here as the Split x2 has launched prior to its expected August release.
The HP Split x2 is a follow up of their previously released Envy X2 which we found to be a pretty good hybrid, as long as its performance was good enough to keep up with what you’d be using it for. You’ll once again be buying a tablet / laptop hybrid with a full version of Windows 8 installed and a powerful 3rd-generation Intel Core processor powering it, which is already a step above the Intel Atom CPU that was included in the Evny X2.
Some of the Split x2’s additional specs include a 13.3-inch HD display, a 128GB SSD as well as the option to add an additional battery inside of its keyboard dock, a USB 2.0 and 3.0 port, HDMI, Beats Audio and expansion slots for both microSD and SD cards.
