Almost sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? Well apparently this “confirmation” was by John Guthrie himself, the founder of Quake Command and the level designer of Half-Life 1 and Half-Life 2. Guthrie reportedly exchanged emails with the website and shared the information above with them. Guthrie went on to share that Half-Life 3 will not have a multi-player mode or co-op mode, and instead will focus purely on single-player.
As much as we’d like to believe that Half-Life 3 will be announced at E3 next year, the information seems highly suspect. After all we expect that Guthrie will most likely be under an NDA from Valve not to share the information, and if he had planned to leak it, he probably wouldn’t use his real name and out himself, right? In any case take it with a massive dose of salt for now, but we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled for more Half-Life 3 news in the meantime.
