Did you just get over the fact that you no longer have Google Reader to rely on to keep up with news stories from multiple websites? Well – it looks like another Google service will soon be getting the axe as the company is announcing its Google Latitude will soon be put out of its misery.

Google made its announcement today, saying Latitude, which is the company’s location-based service where users can share where they are with other users, will end its services on August 9. One Google Latitude is retired, users will no longer be able to their location as well as their friends list being deleted. Any and all third-party services that relied on Google Latitude’s data will stop functioning as well.

All is not lost for Google Latitude users though as Google is looking to strengthen location-sharing and check-in features that are currently available in Google+. As of now, only Android users can share their current location with their friends, although iOS users will need to wait for the feature to make its way to their platform.
