Blizzard Working On Battle.net Desktop Client
Good news gamers who play Blizzard games, it looks like the company is working on a Battle.net desktop app which will replace the launchers that you currently use for your various Blizzard games, such as Diablo 3, World of Warcraft, and StarCraft 2. The desktop client is expected to unify their games rather than have separate launchers, while at the same time it is also expected to be similar to Valve’s Steam platform. According to the reports, Blizzard’s desktop client will allow for background updates, repair tools, streaming downloads and more, and supposedly you will be able to chat with your Battle.net friends directly within the client itself, rather than having to fire up a game just to see who’s online and if they’re in a chatty mood. No word on when the desktop client will be made available, but supposedly the client is currently undergoing internal testing, but it seems to be going well because Blizzard’s FAQ has been updated with a Battle.net Desktop App section. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information regarding its release and features, so stay tuned for more updates!
