BlackBerry recently announced its quarterly fiscal results which missed analysts’ estimates. It was believed that the company’s new BlackBerry 10 devices had actually performed well in the market, but as it turns out, only 2.7 million units were shipped in the first full quarter in which both the Q10 and Z10 were available. Since then the company’s stock has dipped significantly. However, Digitimes reports that BlackBerry’s supply chain in Taiwan believes that sales will get better in the second half of this year.

Recently the Canadian manufacturer announced BlackBerry Q5, an entry level BB10 powered device. According the supply chain sources, sales will get a boost as this device is expected to perform well in the low to mid-range market. In the previous quarter almost 60% of all device shipments were accounted for by legacy BlackBerry 7 devices, which means that customers had actually opted for cheaper BB devices as opposed to the new, expensive ones. The company has already said that it will release multiple devices this year, including a new flagship smartphone. BlackBerry has a lot to offer in the second half of 2013, it remains to be seen whether there are calm seas ahead for the company.
