ASUS ROG Unveils Maximus VI Formula Motherboard Designed For Gamers

While hobby gamers might be satisfied with running their games on low to medium settings, with regular hardware and nothing fancy, hardcore gamers are always on the lookout for computer parts and hardware that will give them that extra edge, and if you’re looking to build a new gaming PC, ASUS Republic of Gamers has announced their latest motherboard designed for gaming, the Maximus VI Formula, an ATX gaming motherboard that is based on the new Intel Z87 chipset and will also play nice with Intel’s latest generation of Intel Core processors.

Some of the features ASUS is touting would be how the motherboard has great cooling performance, thanks to its CrossChill technology that will allow gamers to safely and reliably overclock their computers. Given that ASUS has also dabbled in sound cards like the Xonar series, it is no surprise that the Maximus VI Formula will boast good sound quality, thanks to its built-in SupremeFX Formula audio, which according to ASUS will deliver “audiophile-grade” performance.

Other specs of the motherboard include dual-channel DDR3 support for up to 32GB max, 3x PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots, three-way CrossFireX, 3x PCI Express 2.0, 10x SATA 6Gbit/s, 8x USB 3.0, 8x USB 2.0, and support for both Ethernet and WiFi. Pricing and availability have yet to be announced, but given these specs and the fact that it is catered towards gamers, don’t expect it to come cheap. [Press release]
