Alice: Otherlands Kickstarter Launched

Last week we reported that American McGee’s Spicy Horse studio had removed the proposal to purchase the Alice film rights from their OZombie Kickstarter campaign. Now it seems that a separate Kickstarter project has launched and this time it will focus solely on the Alice: Otherlands project. Unfortunately this means that America McGee had to choose between either project, and ultimately OZombie was placed on the backburner, but it does not mean that the game is cancelled, rather it could mean that it will return at a later date.

The Alice: Otherlands Kickstarter project basically will take the Alice  concept cooked up American McGee and turn it into a series of animated shorts which will apparently act as a prelude to a larger debut in cinemas as a full-length movie. The concept is rather interesting as the shorts will focus on Alice traveling into the minds of others, such as Vincent Van Gogh for instance, as a means to save orphaned children from “reality”. As it stands the project has managed to raise $27,000 and is still shy from its $200,000 goal, but if you’d like to see the Alice: Otherlands projects made a reality, head on over to Kickstarter for the details and to pledge your support.
