Verizon and NFL have extended their pre-existing partnership. Verizon subscribers are already able to stream live NFL games as well as get related content. It was rumored earlier today that Verizon’s extended partnership with the NFL will bring Sunday afternoon games on Fox and CBS as well as all playoff games. It has now been confirmed that starting with the 2014 season, NFL Sunday afternoon games will be available for local fans through Verizon Wireless.

Verizon subscribers will be able to watch Thursday, Sunday and Monday night games, NFL RedZone and NFL Network through the NFL Mobile app for the coming season. While this hasn’t been confirmed in the press release, apparently Verizon and NFL have entered in a four year contract that will end up costing the network $1 billion. The service is truly for mobile phone users, live games will not be streamed to iPads unless and until the user subscribes to Verizon FiOS or Cablevision cable service. Even then video over Airplay and HDMI will not be supported. Coverage of the 2013 season will begin in August on NFL Mobile app during the preason.
