Sony announced the Xperia Z Ultra yesterday at the Mobile Asia Expo in Shanghai. This 6.4 inch phablet is a premium Android device, given its powerful hardware package. The company didn’t reveal any official details about pricing or availability, but some price points came in from Europe yesterday, where the phablet is expected to retail for more than 700 Euros. A UK based retailer has now started taking pre-orders for the Xperia Z Ultra, pricing it at £599.99, adding that official price and availability is “to be confirmed.”
The retailer in question is Clove which expects to receive first stock of Xperia Z Ultra in September. Sony only said that they will release the device in Q3, they didn’t provide an exact time-frame. As far as the price is concerned, it is possible that there might be a slight change, but its not like they’re going to cut it down substantially. There’s still no word on when Sony’s latest Android powered device will be available in the U.S., and whether any carrier in the country will be offering it on contract as well.
