It was not too long ago when we speculated that the Sony Xperia S smartphone would be on the receiving end of the long awaited Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, but we were let down as the Jelly Bean update did not arrive as promised. Good to know that the disappointment did not last too long, as the folks over at Sony Mobile did release the Xperia S Jelly Bean update shortly after that downer, and it seems that there is a new Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware for Xperia S (LT26i) owners in tow, too. The latest firmware version 6.2.B.0.211 picked up certification earlier today by the PTCRB, where it will most likely introduce bug fixes over the previous version 6.2.B.0.200.
It is also comforting to hear that Sony has also confirmed the update’s availability is set to arrive sometime during week 23 or week 24, so if you happen to be a Sony Xperia S owner who has held out this long and hope to use this smartphone for a few more years down the road, the latest Jelly Bean firmware update is definitely something worth waiting for.
