Sensoria Smart Socks Can Help You Run Better

We spotted a concept created by Google which makes your sneakers into a wearable computer where it would comment on your activities in order to help motivate you to keep moving. It looks like that concept may be created into an actual product, but instead of a smart sneaker, we’re getting a smart sock.

Heapsylon developed the Sensoria Fitness Socks and fused it with smart capabilities which use a special textile sensor to allow them to communicate to a Bluetooth-powered ankle sensor that feeds data to your smartphone. An included Sensoria application can be used to display an activity tracker as well as provide information such as how many steps you’ve taken, the distance you’ve traveled, speed and calories burned.

In addition to providing detailed statistics on how you run, the Sensoria app can also act as a virtual coach as it can detect where you land your feet and how you stride to provide feedback on how to better position your feet, which in turn will prevent injuries. Heapsylon is looking to raise a total of $87,000 on Indiegogo to help fund its project development and manufacturing.
