GALAXY-Tab-3-10.1-inch-1

We reported last month about the possibility of Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 being powered by an Intel processor. Samsung’s Android tablets have usually been powered by processors based on ARM design. At Computex 2013 in Taiwan Samsung finally announced this new tablet but did not mention who made its processor. Today Intel sent out a press release officially confirming that their Atom Z2560 Clover Trail+ processor is the one that’s providing the thunder.

The Intel Atom Z2560 Clover Trail+ is a dualcore 1.6GHz processor that’s backed by 1.5GB of RAM. That tablet runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, has a 10.1 inch display and a 6,800mAh battery. Intel claims that this processor triples the graphics capabilities and doubles the performance of Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 as compared to previews Android devices powered by Atom processors. It does all of that while not compromising on battery life. Samsung hasn’t provided release or pricing details as yet, hopefully the tablet will come out soon so that we can get our hands on it and see how Intel’s new processor stacks it up against other competitors in the tablet market.
