[E3 2013] The introduction of new video game consoles can be both an exciting and annoying time as on one side, we will soon be able to experience next-generation graphics as well as new experiences, but on the other side, all of our third-party accessories will end up being obsolete. Spending extra cash on new third-party accessories is inevitable, and Nyko has announced a number of new accessories at E3.
One of the first accessories Nyko is announcing is two new models of its popular Charge Base accessory, which allows you to charge your controllers effortlessly. A Charge Base will be made available for both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and will allow for two controllers to be stored and charged simultaneously. The Xbox One Charge Base will come with two rechargeable batteries, while the PlayStation 4 Charge Base will come with Nyko’s patented USB charging dongle system. Both Charge Bases are expected to be released during both console’s launch windows.
Nyko is also making a headset adaptor available for the Xbox One which plugs into the console’s HDMI port to provide stereo RCA audio output, which will allow for your current gaming headsets to be used with the console. This could be a must-have adapter if you spent some serious cash on your current gaming headset, although it’ll be available this holiday.
One of the more interesting accessories Nyko is announcing is its Smart Clip, which allows you to conveniently attach your smartphone to your controller allowing for an integrated, hands-free second screen experience. The Smart Clip will support iPhone, Android, Windows Phone or BlackBerry devices up to 3.5-inches wide and will first be released on the Xbox 360, but an Xbox One and PlayStation 4 version will be made available shortly after its release.
