Alienware announced a new suite of laptops which received a new design as well as improved specs, but MSI unveiled its own ultra-light gaming laptop at last week’s Computex called the GE40, which the company is announcing is available for purchase starting today.
The MSI GE40 starts at $1,300 which will get you a 14-inch display with a resolution of 1600 x 900, 2.9GHz Core i7-4702MQ processor, a 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX760M GPU, 8GB of RAM, a 750GB 7,200RPM hard drive, a 90Whr battery and weighs in at only 4.4lbs. Considering just how much is stuffed into the GE40, 4.4lbs is pretty light when compared to other gaming laptops. If you want to up the specs of the GE40, MSI has a $1,400 version which throws in a 128GB mSATA SSD along with the 750GB HDD.
The GE40 also includes a Matrix display which makes full use of NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX760M GPU by allowing users to output to 3 displays simultaneously, including the native notebook’s display. In addition to that, MSI threw in Sound Blaster Cinema and Audio Boost to help deliver amazing surround sound with immersive and realistic sound clarity.
