Earlier this morning, we read about how Metaio, having launched their augmented reality SDK in just less than two years ago, have already successfully surpassed the 50,000 developer mark – and still counting, of course. Having said that, you might be interested to drop by the 2013 Augmented World Expo in order to check out this collaboration between Metaio and Vuzix, where they are showcasing the first AR (augmented reality) ready smart glasses known as the Vuzix M100 Smart Glasses.
Just to get a better idea on how wildly popular Metaio’s AR software is, it is used by more than 30 million consumers and 50,000 developers as at press time, powering over 1,000 apps for enterprise, marketing, retail, publishing and industrial markets. Vuzix on the other hand, have picked up their fair share of awards for their products, smart glasses included. This means the powerful and lightweight Vuzix M100 Smart Glasses have a thing going on for them here, bringing wearable computing closer to the masses. Vuzix CEO Paul Travers said, “The fact that their software and apps run on this hardware out-of-the-box is further proof that the M100 Smart Glasses are already primed to deliver real-time, hands-free instant augmentations of a user’s reality.”
