Leica X Vario Announced

So, it was not too long ago when we did hear that June 11th would mark the day when the Leica Mini M digital camera would be part of the legendary Leica family, and it seems that the folks over at Leica did keep to their word. The thing is, we are not talking about the Leica Mini M this time around, but rather, the sharpshooter would be known as the Leica X Vario, where this particular compact digital camera would pack in a 16.2-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor within an aluminum and magnesium body that is bound in leather trim.

For its lens, you will find a fixed Vario Elmar 18-46mm zoom lens (or 28-70mm in 35mm format) that has been paired with an aperture range of f/3.5-6.4 and ISO of 100-12,500, making it a suitable “weapon” of choice for beginners as well as more seasoned shutterbugs alike. In addition to that, this particular camera would be accompanied by a 3” 920k-dot LCD display, where it is capable of capturing 1080p and 720p video at 30fps. If you are interested, the Leica X Vario can be purchased from Leica stores and vendors, although you would first have to part with a whopping $2,850 if having one of these is your cup of tea.
