This past week we have covered quite a few rumors about Sony Xperia Z Ultra. Apparently its a phablet, a smartphone with a massive display, that carries the “Togari” codename. Earlier today we posted some purported pictures of this device as well as some expected specifications. It is believed that this device will have a 6.44 inch full 1080p HD display and this particular picture posted above lends a little credibility to that assumption.
Sony is expected to announce the Xperia Z Ultra at an event in France on 4th July, for which it has already sent out invites to the media. Sony has apparently made this device as a direct competitor for Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3. Galaxy Note series has dominated the phablet niche for quite some time now, perhaps the Xperia Z Ultra might be able to give it a run for its money. This device will also reportedly be IP58 certified, meaning that it can be submerged in 1.5 meters of water for half an hour. Under the hood a 2.2GHz quadcore Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB RAM is expected, the entire contraption is said to run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
Note that we’re not really convinced by this photo, since the proportions aren’t really so different from the regular XPERIA Z smartphone we reviewed a while back. Look at this photo. Of course, the Galaxy Mega 6.3 doesn’t always look very different from a Galaxy S4 either if there is no frame of reference. Look at this photo:
