Apple made quite a number of announcements at WWDC 2013. The company unveiled iOS 7 as well as iTunes Radio, its much rumored Pandora like music streaming service. Apple has seeded the first beta of iOS 7 to developers, who are now reporting the various changes that Apple has made in this update. It has been discovered in the first beta that iTunes Radio will display links on the lock screen through which users can purchase the song that’s being played, via iTunes.
Even if user’s lock the display of their device, iTunes Radio will keep on streaming music. When the device is woken up, its lockscreen will display album artwork of that particular track. Underneath the artwork will be a “Download on iTunes” link. This link is reportedly only being shown right now to those who are not registered users of iTunes Match. Apple’s new Radio service is ad-free for iTunes Match subscribers, while it will be available as a ad-supported version for everyone else.
The download link is not shown to iTunes Match subscribers, when they wake up the display, it will only show album artwork. Since this is the first beta, it is likely that we might see some changes in this behavior. It is also entirely possible that the public release of iOS 7 will not come with this “advertisement.” [Image via AppleInsider]
