Google Rumored To Purchase Waze For $1.3 Billion
It was just last month when rumors of Internet behemoth Google started to circulate around, touting that Google intends to pick up Waze and make it part of their stable. Of course, there were also earlier rumors that indicated social networking giant Facebook might make a move for Waze, too. You know what they say – there is no smoke without fire, and sources have stepped forward to inform ”Globes” that Google will be forking out a cool $1.3 billion to put Waze Ltd. in their pockets. For the uninitiated, Waze is an Israeli navigation app and traffic report start-up.
Waze has more or less become one of the most popular navigation apps on the market at this point in time, where apps across a myriad of platforms such as smartphones, tablets, and vehicle systems will be able to provide a way for folks to navigate roads in many countries. All information concerning traffic congestion, police presence, road accidents, speed cameras, and road hazards are part of a crowdsourcing effort, thanks to Waze’s social network.
