We know that Google seems a bit reluctant to develop official apps for Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform. We’re not sure why considering that Google is more than happy to do so for Apple’s iOS operating system, but we guess that’s a debate for another day. Now if you’re a Windows Phone user looking for an “official” Gmail experience, you’re sort of in luck as developers EcoMerc have managed to port the Google Gmail app for iPhone onto the Windows Phone platform. As you can see in the screenshots above, it does look like some kind of iOS/Windows Phone hybrid, but according to reports the app works just fine. There will be two versions available, a paid and a free one, with the paid version ($0.99) allowing for push support. Either way if you really must have a Gmail app, we guess this should do in a pinch, so hop on over to the Windows Phone Store for the download (paid/free).
