Regulators from the French agency CNIL has shared that Google should clarify its policy to inform users on the kind of data that they collect, including its reasons for collecting such information, and the amount of time that they would retain such personal data. Not only that, Google should also set reasonable limits for storage, while obtaining users’ permission prior to stashing away cookies on their devices. Google has responded since, that their privacy policy “respects European law and allows us to create simpler, more effective services. We have engaged fully with the authorities involved throughout this process, and we’ll continue to do so going forward.”
