Drayson Racing Technologies Breaks World Land Speed Record For Electric Cars
Records are meant to be broken, or at least this is what many of us aspire to do. After all, it does give out a sense of purpose to begin with – and a goal is a powerful catalyst to spur one to move forward in full confidence. Having said that, it seems that there is a new world land speed record for a lightweight electric car, thanks to Drayson Racing’s Lola B12 69/EV vehicle that managed to achieve a top speed of 204.2mph (328.6km/h) over at a racetrack at RAF Elvington in Yorkshire.
Chief executive Lord Drayson happened to be the man piloting the Lola B12 69/EV, and this particular achievement is meant to trumpet the advancements and potential in electronic vehicle technology. The 204.2mph record eclipsed the previous record that stood at 175mph, where it was set by Battery Box General Electric all the way back in 1974. Will this achievement see the world of motorsports adopt electric cars as part of their racing calendar? Only time will tell, but there is plenty of potential here.
