Asus VivoPC Unveiled As Windows 8-Powered Home Theater PC

ASUS took the stage at Computex earlier today to make a couple of announcements of some of their upcoming products. We already heard about their new Transformer Pad Infinity, and now, ASUS is announcing a new home theater PC which will run on Windows 8.

The ASUS VivoPC is a compact Windows 8-based home theater PC which we’re sure is being produced to take on Apple’s Mac mini to become the new home theater king of the living room. The VivoPC’s specs haven’t all been verified by ASUS, but we do know it’ll feature an Intel processor and was designed with upgradability in mind as you’ll be able to replace its hard drive and RAM by simply lifting its stop. In the world of home theater PCs, this is certainly something we would like to see more of.

As for as connectivity, the VivoPC features Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, two USB 3.0 ports, four USB 2.0 ports, HDMI and an SD card reader. There’s also optical audio output, a legacy VGA port, an RJ-45 port and audio in/out. As of now, the VivoPC is expected to be made available to consumers some time in Q3 2013.
