Apple Develops MFi Game Controllers In Partnership With Logitech And Moga
I suppose Apple has indirectly stated their intention to whip up support for dedicated third-party game controllers and consoles in the iOS environment by holding a 45-minute long session at WWDC earlier last week on Tuesday, where they showed off a bunch of app frameworks, hardware mock-ups as well as a preliminary set of best practices guidelines. Two names also cropped up along the way, one of them being the familiar Logitech moniker, while the other being Moga, and both companies are said to be collaborating on initial hardware designs for the game controller already.
Kudos to Czech Apple blog Jablickar for spotting this certified third-party involvement, which more or less exploded all over the Internet later on. A closer look at the presentation did underline Apple’s seriousness in conjuring up standardized game controllers alongside the iOS 7 mobile operating system. The entire presentation was titled “Integrating with Game Controllers,” and there were even Logitech prototypes on hand to boot. We look forward to see whether Apple is capable of changing the mobile gaming landscape or not with the MFi framework.
