Regional mobile carrier U.S. Cellular has some 6 million customers in more than 120 markets in the country, which makes it the fifth largest carrier in the U.S. after Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. U.S. Cellular has finally announced that it will be carrying the iPhone on its network, though it hasn’t given an exact date yet as to when its customers, new and old alike, can pick up a new Apple smartphone from it.
In its press release, U.S. Cellular mentions that ‘Apple devices’ will soon be available on its network. Basically this means that they’re not just talking about the iPhone. There’s a big possibility that Wi-Fi + cellular enabled iPads will be made available on the network as well. It is not known exactly which models of the iPhone are coming to U.S. Cellular. For cost conscious users the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 seem to be a better option as opposed to the iPhone 5, perhaps they’ll be offering all of these models. The network’s president is convinced that having Apple devices on the network will not only sustain subscribers, but will possibly bring in new ones as well.
