Unlocked Sony Xperia Z Now Officially Being Sold In The U.S.

Sony unveiled the Xperia Z smartphone back at CES 2013 in January. Only last week the smartphone was spotted at the FCC, though back then it’s availability hadn’t been officially announced in the U.S. The Xperia Z smartphone is now available directly from Sony, which is selling the unlocked version for $629.99. The smartphone can now be purchased from Sony’s U.S. website. The Sony Xperia Z touts a 5-inch full HD display, 1.5GHz quadcore processor with 2GB of RAM, a 13 megapixel camera, 16GB of internal storage and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The unlocked Sony Xperia Z will only be able to work with GSM networks, which means that this smartphone will be compatible with AT&T and possibility T-Mobile. It is believed that the device shouldn’t have any problems connecting with LTE networks of these carriers. At this point in time no U.S.based carrier has officially announced that they will be carrying the Xperia Z, and offering it at a subsidized price with a two year contract. That is expected to happen sometime this summer.
