It looks like The CW has been making some serious moves lately as not only did they launch an application on the Xbox 360 just a few weeks ago, but today, the network frequented by tweens and teens has struck a deal that will bring its content to Apple TV.
The news of The CW’s expansion came directly from the network’s president Mark Pedowitz during the company’s annual Upfront Presentation in New York City. “This year we’re reaching more viewers on more platforms,” said Pedowitz, speaking of the deal. “We are reaching our audience everywhere they are.”
The CW application that will be made available on Apple TV is said to function similar to the company’s Xbox 360 and mobile apps, which also means you won’t need to be a subscriber in order to enjoy full episodes of the network’s shows available the day after they originally air.
This deal will also be a first for Apple TV as this is the first time Apple has partnered with a television network to allow its app available on the platform. Now that the barrier has been broken, hopefully this will lead to additional television networks to supply their dedicated applications onto Apple TV.
