Syrian Electronic Army Hacks The Financial Times

It was not too long ago when we brought you news that the Syrian Electronic Army hacked into 11 Twitter accounts of The Guardian, and it seems that that was not the last we heard of them. Today, we have reliable information that the Syrian Electronic Army is once again, up to no good, as they have hacked the Financial Times, relegating this news outlet to being the latest victim of supporters of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad.

There were a dozen posts with the title “Hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army” which appeared on the Financial Times’ tech blog with time stamps between 12.38pm and 12.42pm on Friday. To add insult to the virtual injury, official Twitter feeds were also disrupted in the process. Robert Shrimsley, the managing editor of FT.com, said, “We have now locked those accounts and are grateful for Twitter’s help on this.” Other news organizations which were compromised by the Syrian Electronic Army include the Associated Press, the BBC and Al Jazeera, which is a rather impressive list of who’s who in the journalism world.
