Rovio’s Angry Birds About To Get Their Own Movie
Rovio knows for sure that they have yet to finish milking their seemingly bottomless cash cow known as Angry Birds, despite seeing plenty of merch released in the past, various add-ons and expansions in the game, in addition to theme parks, but how about the silver screen? Yes sir, you will soon be able to catch Angry Birds in a cinema near you, although they will not come in the form of a smartphone ad, but rather, as a full fledged movie. After all, surely a game franchise that has seen more than 1.7 billion downloads deserve a movie, right?
Rovio will team up with Sony Pictures to deliver the Angry Birds Movie to the masses, although you will have to wait until July 1st, 2016 for that to happen. Will the world still be hot for these angsty feathered friends and their green porcine nemesis? Only time will tell, but we do know that the Angry Birds Movie will be presented in 3D with John Cohen (Despicable Me producer) working on the film alongside David Maisel. [Press Release]
