NEC Medias X 06E Is The First Water-Cooled Smartphone
Computer building enthusiasts, especially those with extremely demanding systems, have turned to liquid cooling as an alternative way to cool their computers. It works, it looks cool, why not, right? At the same time we’re sure many are wondering if smartphones will ever have that kind of technology, and here to answer your question would be NEC who has announced the first ever water-cooled CPU which is making its debut in the NEC Medias X 06E. Interestingly despite marketing this device to everyone, NEC is instead marketing the phone heavily to women with accessories like a light-up pendant which will flash or light up when you receive a notification.
Under the hood, the X 06E will sport a water-filled pipe that will run alongside the quad-core processor, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro clocked at 1.7GHz, which according to NEC, will allow the phone to run at full power longer since it will help prevent the phone from overheating. Apart from that nifty feature, other specs of the phone includes a 4.7” 720p HD display, a 13.1MP camera and will be made available on NTT DoCoMo’s network sometime later in June. We doubt it will be seeing the outside of Japan, but it is a pretty interesting piece of technology that we wonder if other manufacturers could adopt in the future.
