Kernel Source Code Of Verizon Galaxy S4 And Other Devices Released

Today Samsung has released the kernel source code for quite a few of its devices, including the recently released Verizon Galaxy S4. These devices include Galaxy Mega 5.8 Duos, Galaxy Mega 6.3 GSM and the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 as well. Already Samsung has released the code for different variants of Galaxy S4 as well as for the Galaxy Mega 6.3 LTE version. The code now be downloaded from Samsung open source repository, links have already been embedded in to each device’s name.

To the average user though this kernel source code is of no use. It is an offering to developers who can tinker around with the code to create custom ROMs which greatly enhance the experience of any Android device. Some of the widely used ROMs include MIUI, AKOP and CyanogenMod, they offer a completely different user experience as compared to the Android versions these devices ship with. Custom ROMs are also often preferred and used for getting rid of the bloatware that manufacturers often install on such devices. Developers who had been waiting on the fences before can now jump in to creating new experiences for the aforementioned devices.
