We reported a few days ago that HTC apparently has a phablet in the pipeline. Devices that tout displays larger than smartphones but a little smaller than 7 inch tablets are affectionately called phablets, and Samsung rules this niche with its Galaxy Note devices. The HTC T6 phablet is reportedly being developed as a rival to Galaxy Note, it is considered as a rival for Samsung’s yet to be announced Galaxy Note 3. T6 is the codename for this alleged device, in no way does the moniker confirm that HTC’s phablet will have a 6 inch display.
It is supposedly going to support pen-based input like Galaxy Note devices do. Alleged HTC T6 specs point towards a 5.9 inch full HD display, a 2.3GHz Qualcomm MSM8974 quadcore processor a.k.a Snapdragon 800 with 2GB of RAM. Its also said to tout an optically stabilized UltraPixel camera, BoomSound speakers, 3,300 mAh battery, 2.1 megapixel front facing camera, 16GB internal storage with the option of external expansion through microSD cards. Release is expected either in later summer or early fall. It is being said that HTC T6 will actually be powered by Android Key Lime Pie, the upcoming platform update that Google is yet to announce. Both BlinkFeed and Sense are said to be on board as well. A fingerprint reader and a power jacket, which reportedly is a backup 1,250mAh battery inside a protective case, have also been rumored. If these alleged specs are anything to go by, the HTC T6 phablet is certainly going to be a feisty device.
