We reported back in March that a successor of HTC Butterfly, better known in the U.S. as Droid DNA, will be released this year. HTC Butterfly is the international variant of Droid DNA, it touts a 5″ 1920×1080 full HD display, a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quadcore processor with 2GB of RAM, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 8 megapixel rear camera and 16GB of internal storage. HTC’s Ben Ho had confirmed that the company was apparently looking to take advantage of the fact that a large majority of smartphone customers preferred large displays. Rumor has it that the Butterfly’s successor is going to be released in the third quarter of 2013.

The size of its display is not known, but according to this rumor HTC Butterfly 2 will have a full HD display, BoomSound speakers, Ultrapixel camera on the back and BlinkFeed. Earlier reports suggested that HTC One will be the Taiwanese manufacturer’s only flagship smartphone for 2013, but that seems to have been contradicted now. All of these rumored features already exist in HTC One, which has already been released in a number of markets around the world. Perhaps the HTC Butterfly successor will be powered by an updated Android firmware that Google announces at I/o 2013?
