Clyde LED Desk Lamp Powered By Arduino
Is there nothing that the Arduino chipset cannot do? I guess if you were to answer the question on a purely technical basis, it should not be too difficult to do so, but just to get an idea on how flexible Arduino can be, how about controlling lamps in your home using it? A Canadian design company known as Fabule has come up with their latest “baby” known as Clyde, an LED desk lamp which can be programmed with personality modules in its “brain.” The Clyde LED desk lamp will play nice with Arduino, which happens to be an open-source electronics program.
Assuming Clyde is in “afraid of the dark” mode, he will light up to compensate for the level of darkness in the room, and should he happen to be in “touchy feely” mode, Clyde will cycle through different light colors whenever you touch his jellyfish-like legs. All the sensors required to make Clyde respond accordingly are stashed within his head. Turning Clyde on or off is achieved by touching his squishy silicone “eye.” Fabule intends to raise $45,000 on Kickstarter to develop this technology even further, but they seem to be rather far from their target with 26 days left to go.
