Are smartphones taking the same route as that of the modern day flat screen TV? Perhaps, especially when you consider most of the new TVs released tend to gravitate towards a monolithic design, and making sure that as little of the bezel as possible is shown is another factor that assists consumers to part with money in their wallet and bank account. Well, Pantech might be thinking along the same lines when it comes to their Pantech IM-A870 smartphone, which is a 5” smartphone that tries as much as possible to reduce the visible bezel.
Part of the Vega R series, the Pantech IM-A870 is said to arrive with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset and of course, the aforementioned 5” bezel-less touchscreen display, as part of Pantech’s exercise in “rebutting” the Samsung Galaxy S4. Not only that, it is said to run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and ought to arrive sometime later this month. Just in case you were wondering where does Pantech stand in the hierarchy of things, they are the third largest smartphone manufacturer in South Korea.
