Microsoft Surface RT / Pro Receive Wi-Fi Related Updates

The Microsoft Surface has had a rough start as it’s still pretty difficult for people who want a tablet to actually get their hands on one, but that hasn’t stopped Microsoft from rolling out regular updates to both the Surface RT and Surface Pro.

A new update rolled out today almost squarely focuses on both devices’ Wi-Fi connections, with a large amount of Wi-Fi-related fixes aimed at the Surface RT. Here are the updates you can expect to be available on your Surface RT today: 

• Fixes certain “limited” connectivity issues
• Improves Wi-Fi to handle a wide range of access points
• Resolves system crashes caused by certain Wi-Fi issues

This is the last in a large number of firmware updates that have been aimed at the Surface RT’s ongoing Wi-Fi connection issues with a rather large volume of users complaining for months since the tablet’s debut.

As for the Surface Pro, Microsoft has rolled out a broad range of updates for the tablet:

• Resolves an issue with on screen touch navigation in the UEFI boot menu
• Fixes some Surface Type and Touch cover connectivity issues
• Supports 106/109 keyboards on North American Surface devices
• Resolves an issue in which toggling airplane mode would disable the Wi-Fi driver

Both updates for the Surface RT and Surface Pro should now be available for you to update your respective tablets with. Hopefully Microsoft’s changes to the Surface RT’s Wi-Fi settings will make things a little more tolerable for those users.
