As we reported previously, Apple was closed to striking a deal with major labels, Warner Music and Universal, and according to a report on CNET, the deal may very well be signed next week. Of course they did state that this deal may not necessary be a guarantee as things could very well fall apart at the last minute, not to mention that Apple will also need to get major label Sony on board, along with music publishers as well.
It seems that some believe that Apple’s iRadio might actually be better for the labels compared to rivals such as Pandora. The obvious reason for starters would be that it could help encourage purchases on iTunes, and it seems that according to CNET’s source, Apple could be introducing audio ads as well, thus providing Apple and the major labels and publishers with an alternative revenue stream. Take this with a grain of salt for now, but if Apple manages to get Sony and the publishers on board, a summer launch and possible announcement at WWDC would be more than likely.
